Read the worktop height first

Most tops in this range sit at 75 cm. Polo, Planet R, Steel, Sail, Evol and X-3 all work at that height, which balances the seat height of a task chair against the clearance your knees need. Anything that deviates is telling you something useful. Reception counters rise to 105-110 cm because the person on the other side is standing. Actor and Denis both offer 105 cm tops for short stand-up meetings. UpDown carries a 68-118 cm range in its size list, so one top serves both seated and standing work. Cafe and bar tops stay in the 75-80 cm band, which means they are matched to standard chairs rather than bar stools. Flipper falls outside the band entirely at a recorded 65x65x120 cm; it is documented as a convertible piece that reads as a side table until it opens into a working surface, and on convertible furniture a single recorded height never tells you the height you will actually work at.

Width tells you which subcategory you are in

Width alone usually identifies the job. Single task tops cluster between 120 and 200 cm: Polo is 120×70, Steel and Sail are 200×100. Executive tops start at 170 cm and reach 278×215 cm on Valens, where the extra depth comes from the return unit rather than the top itself. Meeting tops span from the 80×80 cm square of Denis to the 420×150 cm of Loft. The mid-level band occupies the 180-225 cm middle ground between staff and management. Remember to allow roughly 90 cm behind the top so a chair can be pushed back; a 280 cm table in a 3 m room is a plan that only works on paper.

The base decides what fits underneath

Base type looks like styling and behaves like planning. Panel bases on e-9, E-10, Fly, Major and X-10 close the top on both sides, adding mass and privacy while reducing the free volume below. Metal frames and tapered legs, as on X-3 and Denis, leave the underside open, so a mobile pedestal slides in and a chair moves sideways without obstruction. The T-leg construction of Greko and UpDown clears the centre entirely, which is why it suits facing layouts. Serenity’s castors and the castor base option on Cage take the table out of the fixed-furniture category altogether. Cable management, pedestals and return units

What sits under and beside the top usually closes the decision. Brenda and Serenity are both documented with an integrated cable channel and a power module, which matters from day one on a crowded meeting table. The Cage pedestal measures 42x55x62 cm, low enough to roll under these tops. On the return side, Space comes with a 220x45x85 cm unit, Major with 225x52x82, Valens with 233x39x91 and Zeta with 180x40x80. These convert a single top into an L-shape: the footprint grows, the table count does not. Plan against the combined rectangle, not the top on its own.
