Türkiye Furniture Export Atlas 2015–2025: The HS 9403 Series
UN Comtrade evidence on Türkiye's furniture exports excluding seats: value, weight and value-per-kilogram trends from 2015 to 2025.
Furniture export totals for Türkiye differ across reports not only because of data dates but because product definitions change. This series uses one reproducible scope: UN Comtrade, Türkiye (reporter 792), World (partner 0), exports, annual data and HS 9403. HS 9403 covers “other furniture and parts thereof,” excluding seats. It includes metal and wooden office furniture, but the series is not office-only and does not include HS 9401 seating.
Data were retrieved from UN Comtrade’s preview final-data API on 25 August 2026. Value is the current-US-dollar primaryValue field and weight is netWgt. Kavela calculated value per kilogram by dividing the two.
Türkiye HS 9403 exports, 2015–2025
| Year | Export value (USD bn) | Net weight (million kg) | USD/kg | HS edition |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2015 | 1.405 | 535.9 | 2.62 | H4 |
| 2016 | 1.344 | 554.8 | 2.42 | H4 |

| 2018 | 1.546 | 689.7 | 2.24 | H5 |
| 2019 | 1.762 | 847.1 | 2.08 | H5 |
| 2020 | 1.751 | 891.4 | 1.96 | H5 |
| 2021 | 2.210 | 1,036.4 | 2.13 | H5 |
| 2022 | 2.472 | 1,019.1 | 2.43 | H6 |
| 2023 | 2.379 | 920.0 | 2.59 | H6 |

| 2025 | 2.321 | 775.7 | 2.99 | H6 |
Displayed figures are rounded; calculations use the full API values. An “HS” search returns the original classification for the relevant year, producing H4 for 2015–2016, H5 for 2017–2021 and H6 for 2022–2025. The four-digit 9403 heading remains consistent, but detailed subheading analysis should map edition transitions explicitly.
Value increased 65.3% in ten years
HS 9403 export value rose from USD 1.405 billion in 2015 to USD 2.321 billion in 2025. Total growth was 65.26% and compound annual growth (CAGR) was 5.15%. Net weight increased from 535.9 million kg to 775.7 million kg: 44.74% in total and 3.77% compounded annually.
Because value grew faster than weight, value per kilogram ended above its starting point. The current-dollar series is not adjusted for inflation. Exchange rates, materials, product mix and market destinations all contribute; the 5.15% figure should not be presented as real output growth.
Value peaked in 2022; weight in 2021
The highest export value was USD 2.472 billion in 2022, while net weight peaked at 1.036 billion kg in 2021. The 2025 value remained approximately 6.1% below the 2022 peak, but weight stood about 25.2% below its 2021 peak. That divergence indicates a mix or value-density change invisible in the dollar total alone.
In 2025, value increased 0.64% year on year while net weight fell 11.27%. Calculated value per kilogram rose 13.43% to USD 2.99. This does not mean every item’s price rose 13%. A larger share of expensive goods, changes among HS subheadings, delivery terms or reporting can move the average.
What USD/kg shows—and what it does not
USD/kg = annual export value / annual net weight. It is a useful indicator of value density across a broad product group. The ratio fell from 2.62 in 2015 to 1.96 in 2020 before reaching 2.99 in 2025. The start-to-end increase is approximately 14.2%.
Value per kilogram is not profitability. Valuation and freight conventions, the different mass of desks and cabinets, parts exports, material intensity and destination mix all affect it. Gross margin requires production costs; pure price effects require a constant basket; design value requires detailed subheading and firm data.

The UN Comtrade preview API limits periods and records per request, so years can be queried separately. Because the database may be revised, store the extraction date with every published series and do not silently overwrite historical snapshots.
Appropriate use of the series
This atlas is suitable for tracking Türkiye’s broad HS 9403 trend and the divergence between value and weight. It should not be cited alone as “total furniture exports” or “office furniture exports.” Total furniture requires other headings such as HS 9401; office analysis requires relevant subheadings such as 940310 and 940330 with classification editions mapped.
Conclusion
Between 2015 and 2025, Türkiye’s HS 9403 exports increased 65.3% in current-dollar value and 44.7% in net weight. In 2025 value was nearly flat while weight fell sharply, lifting average value per kilogram to USD 2.99. The defensible interpretation is that this broad group now produces more export value and greater value density than ten years earlier. Separating price, mix and real value added requires subheading-level analysis.
